The lower back: the frame that makes the waist visible
A waist is not defined only by what is removed — it is defined by what frames it. XPINE-FAT is a published technique combining lower-back lipodefinition with fat grafting inside the erector spinae muscle, guided by ultrasound. In 15 patients, muscle thickness increased 65.3% on the right and 66.4% on the left.
What it does, and why it matters for the waist
The erector spinae are the two muscular columns running along either side of the lower back. When they have volume, they create a vertical relief that contrasts with the waist: the same diameter reads as narrower.
The technique does not just remove fat — it places fat inside the muscle under ultrasound guidance. Ultrasound is what confirms the graft is in the muscle and not above it.

The limits, stated plainly
Fifteen patients is few. This is a short descriptive series from 2022, and measurements were taken before surgery and in the immediate postoperative period: the paper does not report how much of that increase persists long term, because it did not measure it. «No adverse events» means none occurred in those 15 patients during that window — it is not a general safety rate.
